Re: Frozen out - the one that got away - The horror of it all .................. has any WAF member just won an SA tinnie via ebay ?

Collecting tinnies is now becoming far too stressful............I was about to bid for SA Tinnie via ebay auctions when my Computer froze hence with only 9 minutes of the Auction remaining I had other option other than to re boot my PC which took ten minutes grrrrrr I missed out bidding by just one minute.......... has this ever happened to any other WAF Member ? Below is the link to the tinnie

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/altes-Abze...vip=true&rt=nc

Does anyone have this particular tinnie for sale ? or any other SA tinnies for that matter ? as only comfort spending will save me now

Bummer Martin. That was a nice one too. These issues used to happen on Friday mornings before Niemanns' update. Try to put it out of your mind as something else will soon turn up I am sure. Best Robert

      eBay tinnie nightmare

      Martin,
you might try using a program that bids for you. I used to use one called "auction stealer". You just put in your maximum bid and it automatically bids for you. You can be away from your computer. You might want to check on one.

        Hi Martin,
Sorry you missed the auction because of the computer issue, freezing up in the last few minutes before the auction ended.
I'm sure a lot of us have been there...I know I have! Still lamenting over a photograph that sold for a few dollars, that was
worth way more than what it went for...but alas, my computer didn't want to cooperate. By the time it booted back
up...too late. Anyway, Terry thanks for the auto-bid program recommendation. Martin, I'm sure a wonderful piece is right
around the corner for your collection.
        Sincerely,
        Bob

Hello Robert, yes as you know that SA Rally was literally only 6 days before the Night of the Long Knives...........I already have the silver version, hence to miss the Bronze example for that sort of money due to my PC playing up was stressful........ I have moved on now however at the time I was mega frustrated as my PC was just not responding.
I was fortunate regarding Detlev's updates as I never had issues albeit I heard from many who did..............more than likely caused by so many logging in to his website at the same time.
            Regards Martin

Hello Terry, thank you for the advice although I already have "Sniper software" I seldom use it.............................on this occasion it is just a case of "some you win & some you loose"
Albeit I had been watching that SA tinnie all week hence to loose out on the Badge the way that I did was very disappointing.

Hello Bob, what is so ironic though is my PC never usually freezes yet I had a feeling it was going to this Evening...............I ran virus scans & cleared files to avoid this happening.................what will be will be.............sorry to hear you lost out on a rare Photograph in similar circumstances.
It could be worse just imagine what it was like before the internet with people queuing overnight outside Department stores in the hope of picking up a bargain and then been beaten to literally everything my a stampeding crowd........the Horror of it all

Hello, yes you make a valid point I really need a contingency plan in place to avoid this happening again.

                    Hi Martin:

Peter Whammond has one available on his site (but it's not as good a deal as that Ebay one was):

Hello Giuseppe, thank you for the information, it was very kind of you to let me know.
yes I had previously already see the example for sale on Peter's website and may yet consider it...........however what was so devastating about missing the example sold via ebay was that that particular Badge still retained the original Makers paper label to the reverse of the Badge..............not to worry as I still have a Silver version of this Badge and besides life can throw problems at us all a 1000 times worse than something as trivial as this.............although at the time my PC froze I was literally pulling my hair out

yes it was and I have to admit missing out on it in the manner that I did still niggles me..................price wise I felt that the Badge was going to slip through the net due to the fact the ebay seller had listed the Badge in the wrong category and had not mentioned it was SA related..............had he listed it on the American ebay website the hammer price for the Badge would more than likely have been over treble.
If it is an SA tinnie I do not have price does not come in to it (within reason that is)
my preferred technique is to bid on Badges in the last seconds of an auction to avoid other bidders bidding against my reserve which can on occasions cause the auction price to go through the roof .................however on this occasion my bidding method failed,
If you locate the SA tinnie please could you post it under my SA thread.........below I have posted the link >>>>
