And your 29 badge is an early one from the rally.

Much appreciate it ... it was a very lucky find!

I was bidding on that lot , unfortunately a few guys had spotted the badge tucked in amongst some low end tinnies and the price climbed. I stopped bidding at a point I felt the price had exceeded the values (given the corrosion damage on the front top corner), and it climbed higher still. Well done for sticking it out....

I remember seeing this lot somewhere - which auction house was it from?

Thank you Jon. The same thing happened to me. However, for some reason that I will never know, the high bidder dropped out just before the auction - and I became the high bidder.

I definitely wanted the 1929 RPT, since it was one distributed at the rally. But, for me, since I collect WHW, the brass Deine Hand was the "pick of the litter". Very rare, as far as WHW go - the only one I know that is actively on the market is on Tieste's site, and I really didn't want to shell out 200 euros ....

The auctioneer did not realize what he had (based on the range he listed for anticipated sale). He had some real junk in there, but also had a fairly rare Tag Der SA/HJ tinnie from 1933 - poorly displayed, upside down, and so dark you couldn't make out most of it. I saw the "Tag Der SA", but did not see the "HJ". I guess better to be lucky than good.

It was Milestone Auction - and I used Proxibid to access their auction.

Is this because of its composition as I see the red enameled version for sale quite often?

Yes, I would say that the enamel based ones are about 100 to 1. The brass ones are very rare.
