Any clues on an HJ trinket?

    Guys

this fob/trinket/annoying thing came to me in a job lot. I thought it was junk junk made from a cigarette card until I noticed that the image used on it is a superset of the image used on the Brinkmann card. If you look at the card at left and then at the bauble, you'll note they both use an image from the same source, but they are not derived directly from each other.

    Any ideas giant brains?

    Thanks
    Geof

Hypothesis: it's a bit of fake junk

    Testable predictions:

    1. the imagery is available elsewhere
    2. the manufacture is inconsistent with period methods
    3. the manufacturer or marks are bogus
    4. it does not match known good examples
    5. it matches known fakes
    6. it does not match an object of its purported age in it's physical state

    Observations:

    1. I haven't seen that image in common use, I have seen it in a cigarette card but this one doesn't derive from that, undecided
    2. It's got a weird shiny finish, similar to some of the nasty modern fake war badges, supports
    3. There are no manufacturer marks. The Germans loved to stamp stuff all over their gear. There are exceptions but in these small non-military items it is rare, supports
    4. Never seen another one. Not one, the absence of proof is not proof, supports
    5. Never seen a fake one unless this is it, undecided
    6. It's very clean, unscratched, no dirt, no corrosion, supports

Therefore 4 of my testable observations support this being a fake and 2 are undecided. None fail to support it.

Scientific method I call on you! You are the most powerful of the new Gods!

    It's a fake!
