KdF Volkswagen Foundation Badge BH Mayer

A friend of mine picked up a vet haul and this was amongst everything.

What exactly is it. It looks very promising to me.

Also.....if identifiable, what kind of value do these have?

    Thanks for your help.

Forgot to mention that if you keep trawling the threads above, I believe you will also find the numbered type, like your friends.

I must say that I do not like the (zinc?) type with the button hole fixing as in your attachment, and have an open mind on the type posted first ( although its a bit posh for a factory workers badge), but would not buy one, unless it was a cheap gamble.

          Regards,

I agree with your thoughts on the zinc example of the badge, my point is the idea of it being some type of employees badge.

As I said, I feel that it is too good a quality for an employees badge, yet cannot condemn it entirely.
I did hold out the vague hope that it was a badge presented to those who had ordered (and fully paid for?) a Volkswagen, with the last number being the year of delivery, but the ones in blue with a larger number at the end dispelled this theory.

              Sceptically,

              Pete

I don't like these badges at all. As stated elsewhere there are boo-coo fakes using this pattern. They are focused on the mimicing of the actual foundation badge

                Here's a horrid fake

What your badge has going for it? Well at least there's no Ges Gesch, the manufacturer existed and in fact is still in business, and it's not pretending to be a foundation badge.

Against? Well what's the purpose of the badge? Why did it exist? Until someone answers that I am sitting this out.
