    Thoughts on a cap badge

I know next to nothing about these, but thankfully I got it for next to nothing.

...any thoughts or comments from the more educated amongst us?

    Thanks in advance.

    Good day!

    It's an SA cockade.
I have two similar cockades. I post for you one of them.
I can post another one if you want.

This was a fairly generic cap eagle. The Assmann catalog listed it as style #20469 and had it available for half a dozen German paramilitary groups, including NSDAP, Forest Service, Bahnpolizei, Luftschutzbund, and others.

Is there any indication as to when this style was in service?

        Thanks,
        Chris

I shall allow me to disagree with the Assmann catalog partly.
Besides i never saw such cocarde at Forest Service, Bahnpolizei & Luftschutzbund form.

Here are portions of the pages from Assmann's catolog that show this hat badge.

Your eagle was known as the model 1929 and was modernized and replaced in 1935. Although the Assmann catalogs still illustrated the old ones after '35, they bore the note "Die Hoheitsmützenabzeichen Nr. 20469, 22347, und 22446 entsprechen nicht mehr den Vorschriften. Neueste Ausführungen auf Seite 45b" (The hat insignia #20469, 22347, and 22446 no longer correspond to the regulations. Newest versions on page 45b.)
