HJ Proficiency Badge (Black) Double Marked??

    Hi guys,

I saw an HJ Proficiency badge in black, listed on a dealer's website. The badge has both, a serial number and a "B" classification, on the reverse. Also the RZM mark appears to be stamped into the medal, not raised. Are there examples with both serial numbers and A,B, or C stampings? Please take a look and let me know what you think.

What you are refering to as a serial number is actual the RZM code number,
M = metal, 1 = insignia, the number 35 = manufacture, in this case it's Wachtler & Lange, located in Mittweida. All the companies that held RZM permits to manufacture items for the NSDAP were allocated a code number.

What I'm referring to is the the serial number "50059" then a "B" to the top of the thyr rune. This, I believe is the number that was logged in the books. Usually there is not a "B" in conjuction with serial number. Hope this cleared-up my question. Thanks.

You're right - the "B" is to replace the serial number, indicating it was a second, duplicate or replacement badge, so there shouldn't be a serial number too. I'm starting to see a few with both number and the "B", making me think there is a new group of fakes making the rounds.

The "B", RZM logo and M number should be raised in originals.

Thanks for your input. I had never seen both the serial number and the replacement letter, on the same badge. This badge is currently on Bill Shea's website. In my opinion, I give it the ! I would like to hear from some of the other members on this badge.

Thanks for your post, Rickard. By the way, very nice badge you have there. I thought I would post one of mine, maker M1/101. Let me know what you think.

                        Rickard,

Thanks for the kind words. This is the only one I have of this maker. The condition of this medal is great. It looks even better in person. If I ever decide to sell it, I will let you know.

                        Best,

                        Mark
