not what it used to be

    hi guys
im seriously considering selling all this lot up as the whole collecting thing has gone stale for me recently, too much money being asked for basic items, and little good stuff turning up, still have a huge interest in the era just not so much in the collecting anymore
anyway if i do sell these up and not 100% i do want to let them go yet,but i dont want to go down the route of listing one at a time so any ideas how else i could move them on ????

    Hi Stu,

First of all, great to see that picture again, you have the best RBWK collection i have ever seen.

I am in the same situation selling off my Tinnies' Collection. It is a pain, but I guess you have to take a couple of pictures from each.

    All of the best.

    Best regards

    Antonio

You would do best by selling them individually. If I had the cash, I'd be interested in the 1938 Reichssieger as I have the document for one. I'm also missing the 1944 Reichssieger so you know there would be people out there who would be interested in the top ones. The Kreissieger and Gausieger will be harder to move as they are on almost every militaria site and frequently pop up on the e-stand.

        Hi Stuart

I had exactly the same thought 15 years ago with a superb dagger collection and ending up selling 75% of it off, just spent the last 10 years replacing most of what I sold off and having to pay vastly increased prices.
        The bug never leaves you.
You just need to thin your collection out a bit
I would take a gau and reich badge off your hands.

          Hi Stu,

If I were you, I sold the examples without case but definitly keep the cased ones.

With three Reichsieger badges, you could easily set a set for these years, requiring the purchase of the set of three. I think they would move rather quickly. Excellent condition and original are the key to selling and you seem to have made good choices in building your collection.

Do not believe that little is turning up. I am awaiting a package of rare medals that I have been chasing for well over 20 years. I paid retail, but this will fill several holes in my collection and allow me to sell off some uncased examples of the same cased medals in this collection. One of the medals I sold him, about 25 years ago, for $2000.00. I bought it back for $13,000.00. It goes to show you that there is still a strong market for quality.

thanks for the input guys will make a decision in the next few weeks, does seem selling them privately will be the best way forward as most auctions sites take a 15% fee, but on the other hand they will probably ask a lot more for them lol

                  Hi Stu,

I think we all get moments where we consider selling up but I have always decided to err on the safe side and dispose of periphery items- the ones which don't mean as much to me and I can live without.

This means that my choice pieces stay and my collection is more manageable.

Consign with a reputable auction house to minimize effort. Do sell individual items to increase profits (if someone wants a set, s/he can bid on multiple items).
