One more thing that came back with me from sunny California is this badge.
Regular run-of-the-mill in silver and paint that shows signs of wear.
One neat feature of this particular one is that the recipient- at least I think it was the recipient- sharpened the tip of the pin. Not sure if the idea was to eliminate the loops completely or simply to make it easier to mount it but I think it looks pretty cool.

I noticed that sharpened pin-point too, Matt...must have belonged to a wealthy Altekämpfer as it would have left nasty holes in shirt or tunic pockets; the owner would have had to replace is uniforms quite often!
