1944 Shooting Badges for Small-Caliber Rifle

Hello to all,

I bought two 1944 Tiroler Shooting Badges today at, of all places, a U.S. Civil War collector's show. I believe they are both originals, although I have only had a few of these in the past and my knowledge on them is minimal at best.

Both badges are zinc and are for small-caliber rifle.

The badge with the wreath appears to be a gold one. It is 51.64mm in diameter and weighs 22.0 grams.

The other badge appears to be a bronze one. It is 40.15mm in diameter and weighs 14.2 grams.

I would be grateful for any and all opinions.

Hi Tom,

Nice badges, just goes to show you can find good stuff in the unlikeliest of places.

I don't know much about these badges, but the fact that they are made from zinc and have believable latewar type finishes seems appropriate and good signs for originality IMO.

Yes! The same traits we see in badges that we are very familiar with carry over to the items we are not so familiar with.

Tom, there has been many threads on the subject of Tirol shooting badges. If you would do a search using "Tirol" and member name "Don Scowen", you will find much info. Don has pursued collecting these with a passion and is the recognized guru.
