    Possible fake stick pins- (opinions)

Hi I'm new to the collecting scene but super eutheasteastic. I just made some buys befrore doing my research and I think I may have bought some fakes. I'm sorry to burden yall I'm just a 20 year old and I'm super interested in this ERA. If someone could point me to some good books and what I need for basic starting at collecting.

Here is the second one, I'm very skeptical about this.

Sorry..... but I agree, both are NOT original.

Study the referance threads here.... read as many posts in those sections your interested in, as you can.... never buy anything SS or with "applied badges, skulls, runes, or engraved dedications" until you KNOW what your doing (or have posted it here for comment)....

If it's "cheap" it's probably no good.... (unless your at a yard sale!).

P.S.: Here is a good place for a novice to buy .... pricey but real stuff is!

P.S.S.: "Gunbrokers" is full of REPRODUCTION and fantasy militaria.... NOT A PLACE FOR NEWBEEs!

You know, it's such a shame really. This hobby should be all about collecting and researching the items, what they were for, why they were awarded, the history of it all etc - but currently I find I'm spending all my research hours on whether something is fake or not.

Perhaps I could ask a favour, when replying to a thread about is something fake could the experts please add the reason why they think something is fake or real instead of just saying its a copy. That would really help the newbies like myself.

Both stickpins shown are in the Reddick Militaria, Pottsboro TX catalog; the RLB as picture "Q" item #0107-006-092 @ $4.50 each if you order 25 or more. The SS is picture nr. 135 of the "SS Divisional Stickpins" lot of foolishness, priced @ $2.50.

Most stickpins from the proper era will have twisted pins.
