    VW Pin Fake-fantasy or real

    Hello Forum Members,
I think I have seen this in a book, and I think I have seen it in a catologue of fakes. I do not think it is fantasy (even though I could be wrong) it is 28mm tall the base is around 37mm and it is thick and heavy. Zinc maybe.
What are your opinions THUMBS UP or THUMBS DOWN.
    Thanks,
    Jack

        Hi Jack,

I agree with rlimike. That one is a crude fake. There are originals of this badge, but they are rare and hard to come by.

        Best regards,
        Tom

I have figured out by multiple sources the one I have is fake. But that thread is a mess. Thanks to everyone for the help.
            Have a nice evening,
            Jack

Below I have posted Several examples of the Badge............... The Badges shown at the top are original...... all of the Badges below are fakes/copies. Although there are many fakes encountered on the open Market place, originals are scarce, hence seldom encountered.
Originals are made from Zinc and are not of bakelite construction as some believe........... it is am easy mistake to make as original zinc examples weigh so little they can so eaily be mistaken as Plastic or Bakelite. (only the circular Cog style badges are constructed a type of plastic)
The middle example was kindly given to me as a gift by Nathan Hogle so to allow me to show Pictures for comparrison.
Thank you Nathan......... it was very kind of you to take the time and trouble to send me the Badge, you are an inspiration and a breath of fresh Air to the Militaria collecting World. It was above and beyond the call of duty to send the Badge to me.

NB: Only the Badge Pictured at Top is Original (the Two Pictured underneath are both fakes)
