    SA Defence Badge - Bronze/Gold

    Fellow Members,

I'm bringing up this subject again as per my previous thread titled:

Is This A Gold SA Sports Badge

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=70300

I'm still uncertain if I currently own either a Bronze or Gold version of the SA Defence badge.

This thread should be of interest in two important areas:

    1) Identification of Bronze and Gold badges

    2) Economic variations. Herr Niemann lists the Bronze version of having a value of 45 Euro while the Gold version jumps up to 250 Euro.

(See page 376 of his latest price guide being Orders And Decorations - Germany 1871-1945).

I have posted a close up on my badge and am trying to show the underlying base material coming through the Bronze/Gold wash. The badge itself is magnetic while the pin is not.

Would someone be able to post photographs of both a Bronze and Gold SA defence badge made by Petz u Lorenz Of Reichenbach who was the maker of my badge so that we can compare the two of them.

As always, Thanking in advance ...

    Regards ...

    Good day!
I have all three SA badges (bronze & silver with number less 100000).
My bronze badge so shines as though it gold but it only bronze

So is this badge already cleaned off the dirt?
And can you post large fotos of the front & back side and especially edgeways?

Your badge is the bronze version of the SA Sport Abzeichen. The gold pattern is a lighter gold color than your badge.

I agree. From the picture above this is a Bronze issue.

          Hi Roman, Bod and Darrell,

Thanks for that. I will update my log accordingly to note Bronze and I will also put the remark "Darker than a Gold version".

          Thanks to all.

          Regards ...
