What is this Olympic Medal?

I got this about 5 years ago when I first started collecting. What drives me crazy is that the box had a top that had a German word on it, but somehow I managed to lose it, I looked everywhere for it multiple times with now luck, even when I moved . Anyway, I just wanted to know exactly what it was issued for, and what the value is on it. I am assuming it is original, but I could be wrong.

I believe that is the commemorative medal of the 1936 Berlin Games.

I would have said that its a private purchase souvenir of the games, there were many different types of items that could be bought. However the bronze designation on the box makes me think again, yet the medallion looks silver?? Wrong box?
Value, no idea.

It is bronze, sorry the flash made it look less bronze, as long as its period original I am happy with it, I know I only paid $30 or $40 dollars for it a long time ago.

Ask RobN he has been collecting these for some time now so I would think he will know. I have seen souvenir table medals but the layout of the words along the border are different and there is no swastika at the bottom.

Look on the rim,- most likely it will have on it: BAYER. HAUPTMUNZAMT. ( Bavarian Mint ).

Yes it does have writing on the rim.
