    Schlacht Bei Laufen Tinnie

    Hi all,
I just posted this in the Tinnie Wars section. Does anyone know the significance of this tin? Who or what does it commemorate?

My guess is it commemmorates 2 things, the 700th anniversary of the grounding of the town of Laufen in 1234 and the 400th anniversary of the battle (Schlacht) in the vicinity of Laufen in 1534. the a.N. is a designation that usually indicates the town is on a River, as in Frankfurt a. M. means Frankfurt am Main (the Main River). No idea where Laufen is so don't have an idea what the River that starts with N might be.

From what I can find, the battle of Lauffen in 1534,was during the Protestant Reformation.Duke Ulrich of Wurttemburg and Philip of Hesse with support from King Francis I of France, defeated the imperial forces of King Ferdinand I.
