Golden Hitler Youth Badge of Honor

Hello,

Could someone tell me what were the reasons for the award of the Golden Hitler Youth Badge of Honor? Was it a simple service award, given to all adult members of the HJ, or was there more to it?

The Golden Hitler Youth Badge of Honor was awarded to all members of the Hitler Youth and B.D.M. who joined before 2nd October 1932 (Potsdam Day) and who completed five years unbroken service either the Hitler Youth or later in other Nazi organizations. It could also be awarded for merit in place of service time.
