    B.H. Mayer new years plaque?

    Hello,
If there is a better section to put this in please let me know. I was wondering if I can get some info on this little plaque I picked up. The translation I get says something about A new year with fresh courage B.H. Mayer's yard(?) art. And then the wording with Pforzheim. Can anyone give me an exact translation and also, is this some sort of advertising item given out by B.H. Mayer company to clients at new years or something. This is a small but fairly heavy little plaque, 2 inches by 2 1/4 inches.
    thanks for any info.

Never seen one.....looks like it. Maybe they gave it out at their annual pig roast party lol Pretty neat though. I got the same translation as you, although the "yard" may be another wording for agriculture or similar??? damn google translate. just a guess seeing the pig

      Hello,
Thanks for the comment. I also have never seen one. Yes, sometimes the translations I get from google aren't much help. Now I regret not learning German in school!

        Hi Duzig,

        Nice plaque! Great symbolism.

An American would probably say "Into the new year with renewed courage".

            Hello,
Thanks for the comments, and again, Gerdan thank you much for that info. I had found some information about B.H. Mayer and a picture of a 1922 dated plaque with some of the same wording on John T.'s site also. So is this some sort of advertising item given out by Mayer company? Again thanks for all your help and info.

I think it's advertising and wishes for a happy New Year combined in one small masterpiece of

high quality. So the clients and friends of B.H. Mayer could see the high quality of their skill.

Their 1932 'business card in metal' featured an eagle from what I remember.
While certainly the most prolific, judging by what's out there today, Mayer was not the only company to come out with those. Lauer and Danner pieces exist, as I am sure others do as well.
I would imagine it was a popular way to advertise at the time as they are wonderfully executed pieces.
                Congrats Bill!

                cheers

                Matt

                  Interesting piece.
I wonder if the symbolism of the hand giving the "peace" sign is the same as here?

Again, I thank you all for this information. I had never seen one like this so glad I picked it up. Never can tell the things that pop up for sale.
