Gau Munich Commemorative Badge

I would like to know the opinions of other members on Gau Munich Commemorative Badges that have no makermark on the reverse.
Should all originals be marked Deschler & sohn Munchen ?
I have seen a couple of unmarked badges for sale recently,
they seem to look OK but with all the repros out there
I would just like to know other collectors thoughts on these badges

Shaun, I believe that there are original badges that don't have the mark on the back but if you can get one for a similar price that has the Deschler mark then do so- will be a lot easier to sell on in the future if you need to.

If I remember correctly there was a discussion about this badge and maker marks etc not too long ago on the forum. Try a search and hopefully the thread will still be there. By the way what are these badges going for nowadays? any ideas?

I did a search and found a couple of threads on Gau Badges
nothing conclusive but thanks for the tip as I found a good thread about NSDAP long service awards while searching.
By the way the badges I have seen are going for around £100

The early pieces were unmarked, then subsequently as they were distributed more generaly they are found with the makers mark.

I don't know whether these were made for a long enough time to have an early and late vintage. It's my understanding that they were only produced in 1933 as an unofficial award, and made obsolete shortly thereafter.

These were awarded until much latter than has been thought. They were awarded by the Gau for service, but not in the same way as a Gau badge. There use was curtailed by the order of Nov 1936. At this time the 1933 Party Day badge became a traditions badge as well. Thus you find photos of this award being worn for many more years after 1936.

it is in the form of an official doc. The Munchen badge is not mentioned, but is included by assosiation

Yes, I've not been able to find anything pertaining to the München badge either. But, what does your document indicate?

The document clarrifies the position of the awards and traditions badges. The 1933 party badge is droped from the list, plus this is the time that the State awards were cancelled and replaced with the Reich awards.

I've got several lists noting the changes re awards, but none lists the München badge--IMO because it only a semi official award. I've found no information about why or to whom it was awarded, or when it began to be awarded, or when it ceased to be awarded and worn. Do you have anything specific that mentions the award?

The order referes to those awards issuded by other agenceys. These are then set as traditions badges.
