The insignia looks like Postschutz..ie Postal Protection...I believe they fell under the SS.

This pin is currently on offer on e-stand. Let me state first that I have no experiance with these so am in no position to say whether it's good or bad. However, the pin is not knurled which worries me & the general craftmanship looks a little rough.

Does anyone else have any opinions or experiance regarding these pins please?

        Cheers
        Don

          Hi Don,

I may be mistaken (and I hope I am) but I also feel that the quality is lacking on the example, presently listed on the e-stand.

I have seen a couple of examples in the past year (by the way, Happy New Year to all!) and both struck me as more precise in their detailing.

Here is an image of one I have on file (sorry, no reverse shot). Whilst there are similarities between this one and the one on the e-stand, I do feel that they differ qualitatively.

Does anyone else have an example to post?

          All the best,
          Toby.

I have resized the pic of my pin and pasted the two together the same size and sorry would have to disagree (mine is slightly less detailed but that is all) maybe a different maker? i really dont believe this pin is a copy but it is up to others if they believe it....if everyone feels it is then i will ammend the price and sell it in the bazaar section as a "maybe" but i feel it is a little unfair to say it is a copy because the picture sizes varied and mine shown was a close up which will of course look worse than a further away shot.....hope i am right lol the lack of detail on the wings is due only to heavy patina and i firmly believe the pin would clean up like the other shown.....

Perhaps the pin has been replaced on Lee's example?? They both look pretty similar now they are side by side, both have the left wing by the eagles head non voided.

I agree, now that it has been resized the e-stand example does look a lot better. There would seem to be a lot of glare evident in the first photo which made it difficult to assess the pin.

                  Best,
                  Toby.

I'm also more comfortable with it seeing other images & with Dave's possible explanation of a replaced pin. However, does anyone know if there is a hard & fast rule re the knurling on the pins?.........

Thanks for putting up with this ulrichrudel, sorry for the inconvenience....

                    Cheers

No problem Don as with all aspects of this hobby originality is of prime importance, and obviously when selling items on estand or anywhere originality is the thing we all want to get right....thanks to all who have posted and to don for picking up a possible fake..believe me i hate buying copies as much as anyone....
