I have a nearly-complete collection of Stahlhelm Bund Commemorative Badges (I'm only missing the 1918, and the smaller 30mm example of the 1919 and 1920; I have the 35mm for both years) and I only have one badge with the word "Muster" on the reverse...the 1922. A very rare marking! And the blue box is even rarer!!

Also, NS stood for Stahlhelm Gruppe Niedersachsen.

    Cheers, friends,

    Br. James

Thank you for the info James!
Muster - is a rarity indeed! As for the box - I had a couple last year. I don't think it's rarer than the badge.
One more box with matching number.

What is the district for NS?
The Ns District is for Niedersachsen, per the article in the Military Advisor...

Nice example, love the blue box...need one....

          Thanks, Stuka,

In my experience, the blue box is MUCH rarer than the Commemorative Badge is, and I'd love to add one to my collection -- just the box, unless it comes with one of the very few Stahlhelm Bund badges I'm still missing! In all these years I've never come across one box for sale.

Cheers, and congrats on owning TWO blue boxes,

          Br. James

Br.James, yes...the boxes are much more difficult to find.
A German friend of mine, who owns at the moment - if I remember well - about 190 of these badges, did find only 15 boxes in blue and black.

My article in the "Military Advisor", years ago, was based upon his collection, knowledge and materials expertise. He was an old Stahlhelm-member of the younger generation.

What a fabulous collection that must be, Wim! Your friend must be the "John Pepera" of Stahlhelmbund Commemorative Badges!

Cheers, my friend, and your essay in "Military Advisor" is a great favorite of mine.

Wim, as a relative new comer to the Commemorative Badges, I most certainly second the remarks of Br. James....a fabulous article...and all I can say is WOW, what a fine collection.....so far am still looking for the 1918 and 1919 examples, and an issue box of course...

                Cheers...very well done..

He does not only own the commemorative badges, but also many other arm-patches, cuffbands, collar-patches, devices for the shoulder-belts to show function or whatever from the Stahlhelm-organization, an enormous lot of old Stahlhelm books and many hundreds and hundreds of original photographs, all handed over to him by "real" old Stahlhelm-members, joining the Bund after the war. I met tens of them during the yearly meetings in the 1980's.

Practically all material I needed for my gorget-book, the Stahlhelm chapter (about 54 pages), also came from his files. Besides that he is an Iron Cross collector. He owns hundreds and hundreds of them in all classes from the 1800's until 1945. He is a specialized collector about the IC's. I showed some photographs at the War Relic Forum.
