VW Car / DAF Tinnie 1938

    Hi Guys
I have this VW Tinnie (Grundsteinlegung des Volks Wagenwerkes Mai 1938) here and I am not too sure if it is original or fake. I have heard that there are tons of fakes out there and that real ones go for a lot. It is very light weight. If anyone has an idea I would greatly appreciate it!

oh, oh, here we go again. I'm staying out of it but if you have the stomach for it you can read this recent thread.

Hi Curt, Well that took a while... couldn't finish it all though. So only the zinc ones are real? From what I can tell my crimped pin assembly is good then?

I hate to say this but judging by the images posted the Badge appears to be a reproduction. The genuine period examples although of zinc construction are of very high quality albeit zinc pest can make them appear less deifined.
Is it possible to post a few more Pictures to determine 100% if fake............but to be honest this example does not appear to be Authentic
        Regards Martin

Below is a period zinc example and although prone to zinc pest if you compare with your example it still has finer definition. Authentic metal examples are of zinc construction.............going on the pictures you posted your example appears to be a cast copy

Ummmm.... I have to say I agree with Martin.
Not seen this copy before. Light enough though. Looks like we need the exact weight of an original.

Thank you for posting the additional Pictures. However from my perspective I have to say that the Badge is a fake. Looks to be a a post war cast copy. Below I have posted a Picture of the reverse of a period zinc example for comparison

Hello Pete, yes sadly the quality is just not what one expects to see, also I am struggling to be convinced that the one posted is period zinc. A shame though as the design is correct and as you say it is near the correct weight ........although I not have weighed my example (I will)
The Badge reminds me of one of the fake IAB's that in recent years has turned up on the market place which has the similar casting flaws and that 'dry look' which is from my point of veiw is a dead giveaway
                Regards Martin

When time permits I will locate my example of the Badge, take close up detailed pictures and also weigh the Badge. The Pictures posted above of my example of the badge just do not do the Badge any justification what so ever.
                  Regards Martin

Hello Curt, perhaps you forgot to mention that the thread you have provided a link to is strictly for those of 21 years of age and definitely not for those of a nervous disposition
