    Eagle stickpin

Just going through some of my stuff here before listing few things on estand to feed my Gau addiction and came across this little guy.
    Any ideas?

    cheers

It almost looks like the eagle from a silver coin. Gorgeous.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

I think it is a coin cut.

I think you are right. I will test it for content tomorrow.

If it was cut from a RM coin, what about the reverse? Seems like a whole lot of trouble to go through just to make a stickpin...??

Details seem exact to the coin cut, except the fact that the relief seems higher on the stickpin? As for the reverse, it would have been filed flat and then affixed onto the pin. Why the trouble of doing this? My guess is too much time on hand for the maker. if you look carefully, the edges on the reverse has been very slightly rounded / smoothened.

I don't have any of the coins on hand to compare it to but looking at the details- spot on. Found few more- it seem to be relatively common occurrence to cut the coins and turn them into pennants, pinbacks etc. I can't imagine the type of work that had to go into some of those- pretty intricate.
                Thanks for your help!

                cheers
