    Fritz Todt Ring

Does anyone have any info on this elusive award? Supposedly awarded only a few times (4-5 or so). No photos have surfaced of the actual ring that I could find but interestingly enough few exist of award ceremonies. Apparently housed in quite elaborate cases as pics show. No info on award criteria so far but hopefully someone has something they could add.

    cheers

    Matt,

Somewhere, I have a period newspaper with the announcement of the award ring and an illustration. Remind me when you are in town and we can look for it.

I have never seen one of these. A collector friend of mine has been hunting for one of these rings for YEARS with no luck. Tom

one more pic dealing with the Fritz-Todt-Ring:

The person awarded with the ring is Dr. Julius Dorpmüller on the occasion of his 75th birthday 1944.

            Dr. Dorpmüller was Reichsverkehrsminister.

Nice pic Gerdan- thanks for posting. With the amount of energy spent on looking for the pic of this ring I sure hope it is magnificent. Maybe little short of the 'Hitler's pink swastika ring" magnificent but magnificent nonetheless.

              cheers

Page 101 of the book "Labor Organizations of the Reich" shows two drawings based on (poor) photos which appeared in the German press at the time.

The casket is decribed as fashioned in bright yellow amber and genuine silver. On its lid was a silver plaquette bust of Fritz Todt. Around the sides were emblems of technology.

The ring itself was of a signet type with a large "T" placed within a horizontal oval face. This face was surrounded by oak leaves. The body of the ring was interlinked swastikas. Possible a dedication was engraved at the inside.

A fellow collector just sent me the pics of the ring- must say- although madly rare and probably ridiculously expensive if any survived- a bit disappointing. Looks like all the time and effort was spent designing the case for it and not much thought went into the ring itself.
I didn't think it would just display Todt's initial (T). Must've been bit weird receiving a piece of wearable jewelry with another man's initial on it. Guess that's another piece that was way ahead of its time.
In any event thanks for the description Wim.

                  cheers

Thanks for sharing a picture of the newspaper.
Central design looks like a letter "T" no?
