SA sport badge no number?

First post on this great forum!
I bought a P38 with holster and this badge from a family back in 1985. It's missing the number I see on other SA sports badges but has all the other markings present. So, no number means it's a fake? Thank you for any information.

From these pics it's an original badge. There are a lot of threads here with good explainations for the different sorts of SA-badges (inscriptions, numbers,...)

Welcome among us, Topaz! This is not a fake piece, IMO; it is an SA Military Defense Badge in Bronze, 3rd Issue -- the third of three different badge series' according to the reverse inscription. This final series of the SA Sport Badge award was not issued with a control number on the reverse; given that this series was produced during the war years -- 1939 onward -- the inclusion of a control number matching to an Award Document was omitted with this series in order to simplify production. A nice piece with honest wear to it.
