    Autobahn Display

Leftover piece of mahogany, little bit of ebony stain, some finish and lots and lots of time getting to know a band saw capabilities. Managed to cut off the northern part of East Prussia but the piece of wood was too small so some place needed a chop.
Still missing the 3000 km pin but I am sure I will come across one some time.
    Hope you like the result!

    cheers

I would suggest to anyone who actually owns one of the Reichsautobahn stickpins - that is the name in the Hüsken catalogs - to have a closer look
It is a poorly cast, piece of rubbish. (with a €300.- catalog value!)

            Images courtesy of me.

Detailed camera image of the culprit

Detailed single zoom microscopy images of the cast surface.
If only collectors would take a proper look at what they have, instead of just brown-nosing, thumbing and back rubbing each other, we would actually start getting somewhere in "exposing" the post war rubbish that has been drip-fed to us by plonkers.

              Is Boris an American name?

Quick picture update since we have this thread out- managed to score the 3k pin.
Took a while to find it in the sea of American Fakes but that's not something to be discussed on an open forum.

              cheers

And a pic of a real Authobahn pin for reference.

                cheers

Any chance of clear close ups of that badge Matthew?

Tom, i am sure that when he finds time, Matthew will help collectors out here and try to get to the bottom of this, by showing - C L E A R L Y - that his badge/stickpin/tinnie/whateveritis, is not cast, but correctly produced.

Then those who are interested, would know that the cast copies, are indeed cast copies of a correctly produced badge - and not just a cast copy of an older cast copy, as we know all too well from many other fakes and fantasy badges.

I just steer you onto the right path, that`s all, and don`t do the actual "walking" for you. Well, not all the walking.

It can be done! Good clear images, really are the way to go
The microscope just takes this one step further, and shows you straight up that the item is cast. That means that we can dismiss the cast stickpin version straight away,. conclusively without probing or discussing further.

Otherwise all we are left with are small images and individual interpretations.

The image Matthew posted is large and clear enough to see that it is not cast, but in many cases, especially with small items like the Arbeitsfront Treuewerkabzeichen, microscopy images are the only way to tackle these items.

So, back to my first post then....

another load of manure- perhaps another chapter to a new book?

Yes, I am sure the 'stickpin' is the word that will guide the collectors between originals and casts pieces here.
Another case of Medicine Man approach at its finest.

                            cheers

Matthew, i believe you (intentionally - AGAIN) missed the bus.
What comes after the word STICKPIN?
                              ......to have a closer look

It`s all about the microscope, and how it can help us.
In order to understand intrinsic details that expose fakes - sans the need for sarcasm, one must start large, in order for the "not so sharp" to follow.

So we start large, we show collectors the differences with normal, large images, and then we go into micro detail, and show them the differences on that level. That way, we all stay on the same page. Well the genuinely interested do.

But the reality is, that the "we", is a very small group at present.
Why would you R U I N your positive contributions to this thread with more insults and sarcasm, why? It is counterproductive, and continually makes you look like that guy from the Chopper movie.. old Keithy... winge-winge..
                              Grow up Matthew, grow up.
