I agree with our colleagues, Chris -- sorry to say. The reality is that today we live four generations after originals of this rare badge were created, and many people have both made copies of TR badges and have purchased those badges during those 75+ years. People inherit all sorts of things from their ancestors, and some of the things they inherit are fake TR badges...sad but true. When something has been among a family's possessions for many decades, it takes on a warm reality and a life of its own. Perhaps someone's grandfather or great-grandfather picked up such a badge and kept it in a drawer somewhere, now to be found in 2014. The original purchaser may well not have known that that badge was a fake, or even what it was supposed to represent... There's no telling who knew what now, so we cannot blame those who came before us and innocently bought a piece which today, seven or more decades later, we know to have been a forgery. So do be gentle on that family; they may well be completely innocent of anything except revering an heirloom bought by a long-deceased grandfather.

yes I agree totally. it is what they believe and the unknowing of all the facts. totally innocent on their part which must be respected

This looks to be a very bad copy of the current fake readily available on ioffer. A very poor casting of what is just an approximation of the real thing. I own such a an ioffer copy and paid an appropriately small sum for it so I hope the owner of this paid a lot less.

The posted badge is a copy of a copy.
