It's a casting of a real thing IMO. Judging by the verdigris around the catch made out of brass/bronze as base metal. Silver will never oxidize green.
Few different points to consider here when looking for differences but the above should do it.

For me too, this badge is an original piece.
I like to see those lumps and bumps on the reverse why are almost totally missing on the fake which Matt has posted.
Here is another original for comparison.
And I also don't have a problem with the verdigris.

As both pieces are cast they will display most of the usual details normally associated with originals. They will also display details that will not be seen on originals but are visible on each one of the cast fakes.
Those mechanical scars as pictured below are good example of that. While missing from originals, they show on both cast copies, indicating same source and the same mold. Similar marks repeat by where the right rivet would sit.
Wonderful example Stan! That one too, is missing those.
