NSDAP 25 year single ribbon bar

    Opinions please Gentlemen!

It is non-magnetic, UV negative and the device isn't painted. I have never seen a single one before, only button-holes or alongside another NSDAP LS award.

Nobody has an opinion on the originality of such a scarce award?

I have seen loads of examples that are on ribbon bars as above, or button holes, but not a single one like this.

For the record, I am sure that the parts are original - but not sure if it was assembled post-war. I would expect some backing material (although not always present) at least on an item like this. Either way I would like to know before the return period expires!

I would think that the 25 would be worn with the preceding award rather than by itself.

Thanks Joe, I don't disagree, but I have seen quite a few authentic NSDAP 15 year single ribbon bars - which you would have thought should have the preceding 10 year award next to them.

Using this logic there should only be single 10 year ribbon bars.

On another point however, what is the point of wearing a 10 year award at all if you qualify for the 15 year award - you are wearing two awards for the same period. You should wear the highest award only surely?

Ribbons like this could be awarded as a single placer along with the medal upon presentation. For immediate wear and instant recognition perhaps?

If we look at cases of the Social Welfare 1st Class medals, which there are a few good boxed examples about on various dealer sites, they come as a set with a single place ribbon bar miniature usually in transit.

Unlike the other long service awards, of which the wearing of each award was superceded by a higher one, the regulations for the NSDAP Service awards specifically allow the wearing of all awarded classes together; plus any other DA. One other WH-DA could also be worn ahead of any of the aforementioned.

Many thanks to the thread contributors and the 200 odd views. No one has given it a red flag so that's good enough for me to count it as a period Third Reich assembled award and not a post-war 'parts job'. Into the cabinet it goes alongside the 15 and 10 single ribbon bars
