1932 HJ Potsdam Badge - was the initial award Bronze or Silver?

    1932 HJ Potsdam Badge

I have been contemplating adding one of these to my collection, but only wish to add the official badge as issued on the day - not the later 'souvenir' version.

Angolia's HJ book states that the Silver was awarded on the day, Collector's Guild states the reverse is true. Detlev's price guide gives greater value (marginally) to the Silver version but no explanation why, although personally I think that the Silver ones are more attractive.

So what do the members think?

Nobody out of 45 hits has an opinion? That's unusual for the WAF! Don't tell me that you don't know

Well...having waded through the five pages of in depth, informed discussion in which many period publications were quoted - the jury's still out!

In essence the Silver was the official Honour Badge but they do not know if it existed at the rally in 1932 or if it was manufactured later and superceded the bronze version. Maybe I'll just have to buy both!

That's probably the best thing to do, Siegfried; at least that way you'll have both possibilities covered!

            Cheers,
