Nice offering but I know of at least four similar badges whose numbers exceed 100 000 one to of very very senior SS officer. This is as an early GPB collector in the 2001-2004 period.

Not sure I understand the nature of this post. Is this intended to show that a GPB with a member number over 100,000 is not rare or worth the price offered? If so, stating there are four other badges out there really doesn't do much to indicate a lack of rarity for a badge such as this. An item of which 5 are known to exist, would still be extraordinarily rare by any standard.

I cannot post as I have not kept the scans, suffice to say Kai Winkler had a grouping around 2003/04 with the guys original 1922 membership card and other memorabilia alongside a post 100000- number.A similar grouping I saw personally in a local collection 100% to an alter kampfer who joined in 1921 , Munich Putsch then lfet in 1925 rejoined in 1932.And finally there is a famous collector who owns the SS mans GPB but I do not have his permission to disclose, also with impeccable history. The guy is a member of WAF

Rejoined in 1932?
If this was true, then he would not have been eligible for the Golden Party Badge.
Or have i misread your post?

This conversation obviously did not begin with note #1 of the current thread. May we please have a link to the original thread/conversation about Jon Fish's GPB bearing a number over 100,000?
In response to Kyle's note, original DAP/NSDAP Membership numbers assigned from 1919 onward became irrelevant as of the 8/9 November 1923. The NSDAP was reborn in late February of 1925 and all members were issued brand new membership numbers and documentation; by very early 1929 membership in the newly-constituted organization exceeded 100,000. If the person discussed in Kyle's note "rejoined in 1932," he would have been issued a new NSDAP Membership number of over 350,000 (give or take a few numbers).

Hello Jo
There were a number of early NSDAP party members who joined pre putsch then left for various reasons after. Some who were deemed to be alter kampfers and who had shown significant commitment were afforded the honour of receiving the GPB even though they did not meet the strict 100,000 criteria. Some were from the very early days of the NSDAP.

Do you have a few (you said "a number of.." ) examples of NSDAP members who left after the party was disbanded in 1923 and then rejoined years later and were afforded the GPB? Or even one example?

Yes, Pg Adolf Kunstmann who joined the party 5.8.1925, left 25.8.1927 and re-joined on 1.12.1930 and was given his old number 13155.
He received the AH 30.1.1943 "trotz 3 jaehrige Unterbrechung der Mitgliedschaft"/ "despite 3 year break of membership" (Letter from the Gauleitung Unterfranken).
His honour award is in my collection.
Lovely historic badge by the way Jon!

Thanks Sal. Now it makes a bit more sense. So the thought is there are more than just Jon's who have a number exceeding 100k. I must say it would be difficult to find one with a number higher than Jon's though. That one has to be the record holder.

Without a doubt those who received the Honor GPB s were certainly not regarded as Alter Kämpfer amongst the REAL old fighters/early members.
Honor GPBs were given to many different people for many different reasons. To just say, salop, that there were many old fighters who left the party early on then joined again later and were eligible for the GPB is not correct. IF some of these people did get the GPB, -in this case you mention the honor GPB- then it was for a different reason, and not awarded to that individual for it`s intended purpose.
