    Glider tinnie......but what?

This is one I picked up in Germany, when I was stationed there. I cannot remember where though, and I never did know what it was for...except I of course suppose it is something to do with gliders.

What can you tell me about it.

    Thanks,
    Ron

This is listed under the DLV tinnies in Tieste. It depicts a glider flying by the memorial for flyers on the Wasserkuupe in the Rhoen mountain region of Hessen.

Thanks Curt. I don't know about Tieste, there were no books in 1946 when I started picking up military stuff. Also since I no longer seek the stuff, since the late 1970s, I am not going to purchase a bunch of books now.

Does it say when the tinnie came out?

I also have this one, but have no date on it either.

      Thanks,
      Ron

This one is also listed under DLV. Tieste has been at it for years and the latest edition has about 12,500 tinnies of all sorts listed. I made a typo in my first response...it's Wasserkuppe. No date listed for either of these. Tough to do if no date is on the tinnie and no period documentation has been found. Likely not important enough to get any sort of write up unless it's specific DLV literature.

Judging by what you have shown Ron you certainly collected some nice ones.

          Curt,

Thank you. Maybe I will get a chance to dig the ones I have out and do some photos of them.......if I have any worthwhile ones that I haven't done already.

So far the photos I have posted are ones I took quickly, mostly from 2005 to 2007 before my stroke. I had hoped to finish the room and set up my photo equipment again; however, all the fellows I have had working have walked away so to speak...........and nothing is complete.

          Thanks again,
          Ron
