    a new one to me...

    hello fellow members.
Now I personally have never come across this particular badge in silver and so am I right in saying that it does actually exist?

My initial immediate reaction is that its a fake, but I wait to be educated, perhaps.

Tinnes have been faked for many decades now, but in Germany they have seen a revival over the past 10 years, with more and more fakes turning up. On MILI321 you will find plenty, usually from the same 1-2 sellers.

ah so it is a fantasy piece then. I must admit that I go on hundreds of sites selling tinnies and I have to say that I have never seen this in silver before.

Do you think that it is an original badge dipped in silver? or a complete fake from start to finish?

        kind regards,
        Belinda

          Hi Belinda
Firstly, you cant just dip a tinnie/medal/badge in silver, sounds nice but thats not quite how it works. You can of course re-apply a coating of nickel-silver yourself, in fact very easily - in the comfort of your own home
Video link on how to do that for the interested here

However, this will show straight away on an item like this, provided we are talking about a used messing tinnie, nickel-coated long after it was made-worn-used. i.e: pimping items, thats what i mean, applying a gold or silver finish to genuine items long after.

If it is new, stamped yesterday and galvanized properly, then it will look like this does.

Secondly, i have my hands full for the next few years with other projects/items, so dont intend on branching out into the debunking of fake tinnies - just yet. Also, not being a tinnie collector, i dont really care what it is
