I notice that there is a 1938 and a 1944 version also. Any idea why this gap? The war of course but then why 1944?
Also, are these other years any more difficult to find?

The National Trade Competition was first instituted in 1934 it was held annually. The Reichssieger badge was the only badge awarded until 1938 from then on the Kreis and Gau level winners were also awarded badges.
You will find badges for the years 1938 this being the first year they were issued (Except the Reich level badge which started in 1934) thru 1944 for all three badges with the '44' badges being zinc base and painted these are the rarest to find. I would think the Reich level badges would be the hardest to come by being far less were awarded overall.

The 1944 badges are extremly rare. They are not looked at because of the inferiour production, but the Reich award, detail given by Dr K, IS ONLY 406 AWARDED. One hell of a rare bear. I only know of one example. The GAU BADGE IS ALSO EXTREMLY RARE. These are the items to look for if possible

It would seem the Reichs award in any given year is a rare bear, even in the year 1939 which was the largest competition held there were only 508 awarded.
