    '29 Nürnberg + '31 Braunschweig for review

    Hi Guys

I have these 2 Ehrenzeichen "on hold" and would appreciate your comments. Seller's pics (some under bright lighting).

I am confident that the 1929 Nürnberg is OK.

I anticipated the 1931 Braunschweig to be "solid-back" with RZM M1/63 mm - the obv side matches other photos of St&L "63", but I am not familiar with "no-mm hollow-back" version.

    Kind Regards, Ian

          .

I know that some can be bothered by the offset R under the S but wrong or right I like them both.
          cheers

            Thanks Pete and Matt

The S / R offset (as shown in the collage copied from Forum, courtesy to the Member) - this does not bother me if this is positively ID or attributed as St&L "63" or some known manufacturer; the hardware setup as well.

                Hi Ian,

IMHO, a very nice pair of original tinnies.

Thanks to all for their comments and opinions.

From my Forum searches, I have noted only 3 makers of the 1931 Braunschweig, namely 63 St&L, 17 Assmann and 35 W&L. With the offset S / R taking 17 + 35 out of the equation, can this "no-mm hollow-back" be attributed to St&L (was their hollow-back unmarked?) - are Forum Members aware of an unkown maker?

Indeed, thats because it is a fake, and a cheap fake as well.
                    €15.- here

The main thing is though, that most people here like it

Well that's thrown a spanner in the works!!!

Seeds of doubt have been sown, and unless something really positive about this Braunschweig is forthcoming, I'll give it a miss.
(Note: the badge shown in the link has a different type of hardware setup)

I don't mind the S / R offset, but this must then be a "solid-back" St&L with the correct RZM M1/63 mm (and Forum review).

I think the Braunschweig badge is a modern fake. I´d choose the one from ww2militaria site if I was trying to fool somebody. I´d say the hardware is the same in boch badges, just the aging is diferent. Maybe not the same die but obviously both have the same mother.
I´m don´t surprising if our friends thought these were originals if they had not seen the fakes before.

                              - thanks for your input, as mentioned below this has certainly changed my perspective of the "no-mm hollow-back" Braunschweig. I'll give it a miss.
                              Kind Regards, Ian
