come up in a search of the sa tinnie archive here.

Anyhow what's a fair stand price, please? Thanks loads, dw

thanks martin! I note mr. craig gottlieb started a thread back in '09, as well. and since my original post I've since found 2 wintersport badges like this on shea's site @ $190 apiece.

Hello, although in general I do believe that tinnies are underrated price wise, a $190 asking price is a little excessive for that particular SA Tinnie albeit German International Dealers do ask in the region of 120 euro for that particular SA Badge. It is certainly a Badge that does not grow on Trees.

Oddly enough, I had never seen the skier tinnie until about 3 years ago and thought it a rare badge since I had never encountered it before in years of collecting. Since then I have seen a couple of dozen of these for sale and am wondering why they all of a sudden came out of the woodwork. I'm not intimating anything here due to its seemingly late arrival, as I think these are genuine and have one in my collection, but find it curious I never encountered one in 30 years of collecting and now could have bought a dozen or more in the last three years.

                        ditto Richard.

Actually, looking at the one here, Martins and mine (which are the same) the one I have linked to, on the e-stand, looks a different badge, thinner SA runes, textured surface and the rays around the swastika seem to be in a round formation as opposed to a square??

I noticed the differences, too, but chalk it up to minute manufacturer variations. as to the (relatively) sudden profusion, tho it typically raises eyebrows sometimes small caches of genuine 'whatevers' will come to light. a bale of mint helmet chinstraps, a big roll of blue/white km cap eagles, and in the '70s a lot of w-ss camo mittens.

... and I think most of us have other examples. oh, then there are the dachau-made ss insignia hordes.

I wouldn't think an event this small would require lots of makers for hundreds of tinnies. Now that Pete mentions the differences, I see lots of differences between the tinnie posted here and the one for sale. The one for sale has a much thinner swaz and also the lettering is different. Notice the capital O on the one posted (more of an oval) and the O of the one for sale (more rounded). For a tinnie I've never seen up until a few years ago, now there are lots around and at least two distinct varieties?
