yes regarding #56 an astute observation indeed and a fair point to make. Originals of the Limburg SS/SA Badge of the same design are encountered in tin, yet the one you draw attention to the Berlin SA/SA is always encountered in tomac (Bronze/Brass) I have 2 examples of that particular Badge and will post close ups on a new thread within the next few days. Definitely a Badge worthy of further discussion.Last edited by Martin Harding; 09-10-2013, 05:17 PM.

Hello Richard, Thank you
yes I agree on the Picture the Badge appears to be Bronze but in hand it is definitely Gold I am quite certain, there are traces remaining of the Gold that are still evident. I will take another image in a diffent light mode to see if I can better illustrate the fact.

Hello, the same desgin, albeit different dies used.
It may take me a while to the find where my example is but when I do I wil post a Picture to compare.
By the way I am curious to know does your Badge still retain the original circular (maker marked) pin plate if so I would rate your Badge as a very desirable S.A
Hang on to the badge ............. it's a Keeper

Hello Martin
Judging from the strike quality of mine (compared to yours) I taught they used the same basic die for the 3 variants and just changed the name and date sections (inserts?) but it may well be just a late strike (of a third die). I've attached a picture of the reverse. A bit fuzzy (like most of my pictures... red velvet & fuzzy have become somewhat of a signature/trademark for me ) back marked "Brehmer, Mark-Neukirchen" on the round pin plate.
Thanks for the compliment and the advice. I sold most of my collection in 1980 to cope with other priorities and have been kicking myself for doing that ever since I got back into the hobby a few years ago. No use crying over spilled milk but I'm not likely to make the same mistake again. I'm mostly into decorations, badges and insignia and only have a few tinnies but I intend to get more as some of the ones shown on the forum are really beautiful
Thanks for getting back to me

Hello, I would not be too discourged at selling part of your collection in the 1980's. As Badges still slip through the net, although I have to admit that I have noticed via ebay.com SA tinnies no longer slip through ebay Auctions unnoticed.
Yes with reference to your Badge that is a text Book pin plate, virtually the identical pin plate Brehmer used on their Flugtag badges/tinnies.
