    1929 Reichsparteitag badge - Hoffstaeter

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to show my recent addition that I am super excited to add to my collection. It's a 1929 Reichsparteitag badge by Hoffstaeter of Bonn; the type issued the day of the rally.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

    Chad

Real nice! It appears it was in some place where it got crushed just a little, but did hardly any damage ...may be was in a trunk with some stored stuff on top of it , might be why the pin is a little out of sorts, and left evidence it had pressed against the badge ...but a real nice one regardless ,and no doubt it's good. Congratulations I really like it, and thanks for showing it...I like stuff that has the look its been there....so, was there any story or was it just a show buy.....?

        Hoff

Here's the man behind the pin so to speak. Lorenz Hoffstatter.
Congrats on a fine artifact Chad.
        cheers

Congrats Chad for acquiring an important badge in NSDAP lore and some think this badge is only a mere tinnie.

A fine addition to any collection, Chad -- congrats!

And thanks to Matt for providing a photo of Lorenz Hofstatter; never seen that before! Can't be sure from the b/w photo but it looks like he may have been a PL at the Kreis level. He may even have been a GPB Trager... I love those early pix!

Nice silver badge which is hard to find in the early versions either soild or hollow back.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm very excited to add this piece to the collection. It is a very interesting part of history for sure.

@ Michael, killer silver piece. I think I've only seen a few of these

@ Matt, thanks for the added piece of history there!

Yes he was a Kreisleiter. More images and the story of Lorenz on P124-131 of the book German Medal Makers And Their Marks 1813-1957. The company however, was never called Lorenz Hoffstätter, but rather always Ferdinand Hoffstätter.

Thank you for steering me to Mark Woods' fine book, Jo; very thoughtful of you. I obviously need to spend more time with Mark's book...even as I await the arrival of your new tome!

And indeed the venerable Hofstätter firm of Bonn was named for its early 19th century founder, Ferdinand, though Lorenz was apparently the last member of the family to operate it.

                              Thanks guys!

@ErichS, do you have a link to a site or any recommendations literature of where I can learn about the significance of the 1929 rally? Or perhaps if you know of some information you could share? The limited information I found through google searches left me with something to be desired. Thanks!
