    Hi Pete,

Thanks for posting a link here too, after making already two topics on them i was a bit hesitant to expand to even more forumsections

Looking back i should have maybe started the topic here, but as it started with only Stahlhelmbund badges the Freikorps area seemed best at first.

Spanning three forumsections now with a whole range of badges, it maybe a nice reference help for badge collectors to not get burned anymore.

    Glad to be of help!

    best regards,
    Gaston

The thing that suprised me the most, is that the SS tinnie is a copy of a real badge. Warts and all.

Great job to expose these fakes, they have been doing the rounds for a few
years. I have seen them on a number of dealers sites sold as originals.
Without effort and research like this these badges would be accepted as
            period items well done
            Regards

              hi,

The pages after page 2 are very interesting as well, they show the forensic evidence that undeniably proves they are modern fakes. It takes a bit of reading (and opening the links Jo posted), but is very much worth the time. Over the next few days i'll try to put it all in a little article and post a link.

              best regards,
              Gaston

                Almost

I almost purchased one of the cardboard SS tinnies shown. At backed out at the last minute because something didn't feel right and I'm sure glad that I did.

Well, most threads are a mess, and they get lost - hence the same fakes being repeatedly posted and opinions asked. Year-in, year-out. The proper thing to do, would be to follow up on an interesting thread, and when all is said and discussed, the evidence as well as the basic facts need to turned into an article that can easily be found for those looking. An article that contains only the meat, without the poor reader having to wade through insults, bickering, opinions and egos. Because that is usually what happens when certain opinions or claims are not accepted by others, based on little more than a counter opinion.

in short, a Wikipedia of Militaria, sans ego, opinion, reputation or status.

Josef Fuess and Jabnus - very interesting. My thanks to you both for the work you have put into this.
