Two 1931 SA Braunschweig treffen tinnies - how do they compare?

Here are two 1931 SA Braunschweig treffen tinnies. These are the 2nd pattern and both have the period behind the 17 and 18, though patina obscures it on one of them. Notice the pin attachment on the rear. I have been more used to seeing the attachment which shows a less than neat soldering job. This is how most I have seen appear. Notice the second, which has a very neat attachment with a disc and minimal soldering. There are no RZM marks so not sure who the manufacturer might have been. I am considering selling one to raise funds for another purchase but am torn between really nice patina vs. a really clean pin attachment.

Some better close ups of the front. First badge is the one with the soldered pin, second is the one with the pin plate.

I think both are son of the same father, with diferent way of fixing the pin.
If you search on previous threads the opinons about originality of this model were splited up 50% but in the last months this discusion seems forgotten

I saw some of the discussion and it seemed the defining factor was the dot after the 17 and 18 indicating an original vs. the one that was up in the air. Is this still accurate?

I would pick the one with the nice patina.

To me, they both have a pleasant patina.

No, the main point to be discused is the eagle face. These shown in this thread are the so called "smailing eagle". There are fakes with the dot between 17 and 18, and they are fakes.

Gregorio, would it be possible for you to post one of the hollow second pattern that is not controversial for comparison? Also, am I correct in understanding these can be either RZM marked or unmarked?

Richard I can post nothing now. I´m not where I have my files and my collection, but searching in this forum you can find a lot of pictures of original SA-1931 Braunschweig badges, hollow and masive, MM and no MM, first and second model, and you´ll find too some discussions about the badges shown in this thread with the "smiling eagle". The RZM logo appear mainly in the masive issue, but Assmann marked some (not all) of his early hollow second model badges too. Poellat marked in the pin plates their hollow badges too, but I think they don´t insert the RZM logo in.
