    A few tinnies to ponder!

    Hi Everybody,

I say ponder, since I don't know what they are, well, the first three anyway.

    1) Berlin 1935 - haven't got a clue what the initials are supposed to signify - any ideas?

    2) National Solidaritat - anyone seen this before / know what it is? A striking design IMHO.

    3) Oil Funnel - Nuernberg 1933 - could it be connected with motor racing?

and 4) well, I know what it says, and thought you'd like to see it - another cool design - reminds me of the Blood Order Eagle a little.

    All the best,
    Toby.

            The reverse; it's marked D.R.P.a.

            Any ideas?

                  Here's my opinon on these.
                  1. Just a guess I would say it has something to do with the cinema.
                  2. Another NS-National Supporters pin
                  3. This could represent the legendary Funnel of Nurnberg University which was said to make people wise very quickly when the right knowledge was poured in.

                    Hi James,

                    Many thanks for replying.

Was there really a legendary (if metaphorical) funnel of learning?

                    All the best,
                    Toby.

There are old graphics showing a plump, happy faced youth dressed in the clothes of several hundred years ago with a funnel sticking out of the top of his head. Two teachers are industriously pouring large amounts of liquid knowledge into his head. This is the Nurnberg Funnel. It was supposed to "make people wise quickly." But there is not and never was a real Nurnberg Funnel. Nevertheless the need to make people wise very quickly is often overwhelming. And in trying to make instruction efficient. I guess you could say the Nurnberg University was in the vanguard of the minimalist movement in education.
