Very beautiful badge and case. always great to see the tinnie glorified in this way. very rare and special, and a wonderful, collecting field for the tinnie collector. how many tinnies are known to have been elevated in this way? thanks for posting

Very, very rare and special. Cheers
Anycase, IMO it isn´t a badge, but a special tinnie for authorities or special contibutors to this event.

Thanks for all of your nice comments. I´ve got the material tested today just to make sure. It is definately silver. I still would like to find out more about that piece. Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome.

OOPs sometimes that can scratch a badge, so if its silver marked , that's as good as it gets...hope it wasn't damaged for the test as to the finish, especially if acid was used . Nice piece ...but that part freaked me out.

dont think you do this badge justice calling it a tinnie, tinnies where throw away items to mark an event , this badge was awarded to participents of the games so as its awarded and not bought i would call it a badge

Do you have any proof of this thesis?
I´ve researched a lot every Reichsberufswettkampf and I´ve got nothing about a special badge awarded to participants. These silver tinnies were made probably for VIPs who visit the event.
Obviously this is not a common tinnie and I´d prefer to have it in my collection rather some usual awards, but as you said when you talk about meaning of "tinnie" these were made just to mark an event and never was promoted to the range of award, as other tinnies were (Braunschweig SA Treffen, Potsdam Reichsjugendtag 1932, RPT Nuremberg 1929...). So is this is only a tinnie but a very special and desiderable one. If you prefer you can call them "badges" but they were never awarded, or at least we have to think this until some proof was given to support other thesis.
Once again, Skalp, I love this item and I have no doubt about the hardware: it´s silver for sure. It´s a very nice and rare piece what you´ve got.
                      Regards

                        hi gregorio
you got me confused ,i wasnt on about the silver badge pictured what this silver badge was for i havent a clue , could be a private purchase piece,
i was talking about the standard badge (pic below)this badge was awarded to participents and officials of the reichsberuffwettkamp, they where awarded every year from 34 through to 39 but for some reason the badge for 1934 and 1935 always get called a tinnie whereas the badges for 36,37,38 and 39 are very desirable badges that fetch a lot of money

heres a pic of the 34 and 35 together plus the 38

                            Dear friend
Almost everytime in this forum you and me were agreed. This time probably you have the reason, but I thought the 1934 and 1935 badges were no more than tinnies made, as the main part of the TR tinnies, to get money to help to pay the cost of the event.
I´ve found no proof about awarding of this badge to participant, but some of them came to me together with other tinnies bought by the original owners just as that: tinnies. So I had though always that these were no more than this.
If they were given to the participant too by the organistation I don´t know. Maybe you have the reason and they were given to the participant only. But perhaps they were both: given to the participant and sold as a usual tinnie also. This second option can explain why the 1934 and 1935 are quite more plentiful than the 36, 37...
                            Just my opinion.

                              hi gregorio

might be an error on my part i looked everywhere and the only mention of these badges being used as participent badges are for 37 onwards, so thats not saying they where not used for this reason but there is no proof out there yet lol.
