          Robert,
It's fine, what else do you want to know about it?

if this is the smaller of the two badges,,,I was concerned about the color of the red enamel and the lack of the "railroad ties" on the oakleaves,,,the barely visible serial number also left me feeling unsure about this badge...Robert

You can see someone has sanded the number area, can make out the line across the reverse of the badge. Saw this one coming up for auction soon I believe?

The railroad ties you speak of are on the Fuess marked badge wreaths. Yours is a Deschler and it's good.

                    Hi Robert,

Indeed a fine and original small Deschler GPB. As Erich mentioned, it is only the Fuess-marked small GPBs that include the radically different oakleaf surround design and the so-called "railroad ties" (also resembling a sunburst). Deschler-made badges include an oakleaf wreath that entirely fills the space from the outer boarder to the cloisonne disc, on both the large and small badges. As for the erased number on the reverse, this has shown up a number of times on GPBs and it is thought to have been an effort on the part of the original recipient to disconnect himself from his NSDAP membership file and therefore to remain anonymous.

                    A very nice piece,

                    Br. James
