    Seefahrt Ist Not

    Hello,
I am a beginner (collecting medals) looking for the forum expertise.
I have this one in my collection, the details are different from the ones found in the forum. So, is it real or fake ?
    Thank you !!!!!!!

    Dear friend
You´ll find diferent details in every item depending the maker. THis tinnie was made by a lot of maker and everyone had their own dies. Even the same maker could have had diferent details in every medal or badge depending the time of manufacture during the Third Reich.
This make our hobby more interesting.
    Welcome to this amazing world

Welcome to the forum. As Gregorio mentions there are slight differences in the tinnies made by the various makers. Here is a thread that Robert and I put together.

Thank you for the nice welcome !
The odd aspect of this one is that the first flag ship is missing.
Other point is the back, it has a screw thread:

Well that is a problem! I have never seen a screwback on these tinnies. Likely someone took an unmarked one and modified it. On further viewing the swastika also looks rather crude compared to the ones in the thread.

I know that there was an event involved and that there were table medals and other souvenirs sold. This may be such an item. I would bet that it is not aluminum, as the tinnies are.

It is not heavy, seems to be a Nickel alloy.

The ones given to notables at the event were made of 900 silver and made by Zimmermann and also had a pin. Pretty sure the screwback is bogus.

                    Cast lines

If you look at the edges on this one you can clearly see what appears to be casting lines. This may be another of those Tinnie reproductions that are now being seen on Repro/auction sites.

                      Dear Petopoint,
Good opportunity for me learn. In my mind this kind of Tinnies (the aluminium ones) should be casting.
What was the used process ? Can be the Aluminium be stamped ?
More information about my one, it is for sure a Nickel alloy (more resistent than Aluminium), I bought this one around 10 year ago in an atique shop in Nuremberg, the seller told me that it was part of a drawer. Makes sense to fake these cheap medals and use a wrong (and expensive) material ?
                      Thank you !!!
