Is it just my eyes? The reverse lettering on the top one looks raised and on the lower one impressed.

Your eyes do not deceive you Pete, the lettering is different.

The Ruptured Duck currently has one of these badges available which appears to have the raised lettering just like Schuasta's for $2,975.00.

Hermann Historica also had one of these badges with the raised lettering listed which sold in 2010 for 1200 Euro.

A very close up view of this one is available at the link below.

I think it is the lighting creating that effect. I believe both are raised.

Geez guess I have been living in a cave lately!

So what are the silver Gau Thuringen badges going for these days? I personally like them better than the general badges.

After a second pass I think you’re right about the lighting effect Coburg.

The lettering does indeed to appear to be raised and is particularly discernible when viewing the letters TLER in Wachtler

                            3k for this? yeah, ok

Anyone who pays those ridiculous prices has more money (to spend) than time (to research). No one to blame but themselves.
For the rest of us- they're still out there for good money.
                            cheers

Has not sold in at least a couple months, due to some problems.

I did reserve the boxed 1925 on Weitze about 18 months ago and then bottled buying it at the last minute. Just too much money. However, it is a mint example. Mind you the £ was rubbish against the Euro then, far worse than now.

However, how and what people spend their money on is their business. I was laughed at by some people when I bought my Coburg badge 7 years ago. However, at todays prices it was nothing less than a steal, and a piece of history to pass on to my family to sell on when I move on into the unknown.
Its all about horses for courses and i wouldn`t knock anyone who spends their hard earned cash any way they wish.
