      Hello der-hase-fee,

Would you mind elaborating on the problems that you alluded to concerning this particular badge which Matthew posted previously?

      Thank you.

I`m most definitely a novice here but I do notice that this badge has no maker, the date characters appear to be misaligned, rivets somewhat misshapen, clasp damaged.

how much would a 1923 enamel example go for?

There seems to be a few variations for these with some having raised letters, some completely smooth and enameled and one with the Alpaca markings on. Has a definitive study been done on these? Do they appear on CG's book on Gau badges?

Weitze's one of the top dealers so naturally his prices are on the high side but you do pay for quality.

My opinion is that these Gau honour badges will be the next big thing.

No maker mark on the back.

The seller has not been willing to provide better pictures, though I asked a couple months ago.

Some of them are already, like Berlin, Wartheland, Ostpreußen and golden Ost-Hannover. But the newly published book may help the others along, too.

Pardon my ignorance, but those were purely Gau badges and not elevated to Party Honour status?

That's interesting...few days ago I asked for better pics of another item and he got back to ma saying that....he lost the item. Still has it listed on his webpage.

Above aside- I'm almost positive its not the first unmarked example I see but was not aware that it was an automatic "kiss of death". Simply thought they were made both ways like most other badges from the period. Learn something everyday..

I also inquired about another item, but had to learn that it sold already. Still on his web page after the last update.

It certainly is the first I come across.

it would be good to see more of these 1923/1925 gau awards as they seem to be quite rare.has anybody got a citation for these awards??

You need to use the search engine. Here is one discussion.
