    Adolf Hitler Marsch Medallion 1936

    Hi Everybody,

I just wondered what you make of this: a medallion / badge, as given to the participants (HJ) in the March of the Hitler Youth to Nuernberg for Reichsparteitag. This one is for 1936. As you can see, it is maker marked on the reverse for Paulmann & Crone.

The only reference book I have that mentions these badges is, Phil Baker's Youth Led By Youth Vol. 3. This is the first one I've seen in the flesh, so to speak.

Does anyone else have one of these? Any concerns re. the authenticity of mine? It might be that these are hugely faked and somehow it's passed me by.

    Anyway, all comments welcome.

    Thanks for looking.

    All the best,

    Toby.

TobyR, Here's another source Medallic Portraits of Adolf Hitler by R.W. Colbert & William D. Hyder. One is for the year 1938 and by a different maker but the design is the same as yours. It's strange that more of these haven't shown up before, yours is the first one I have seen outside of a book also. Very nice pick up.

        Hi James,

Thanks for replying, and thank you too for the interesting scan. I must confess I wasn't aware of this book - another one for the wants list.

I've been trying to get an idea of how many of these would have been handed out.

Phil Baker describes them as being highly prized by the HJ recipients, although I suppose this was more to do with the honour of being on the march rather than frequency of badges handed out.

Anyone have any idea how many HJ would have marched to Nuernberg for Reichsparteitag?

How many Bann per Gebiet would have been represented in the march?

        All the best,
        Toby.
