    Anyone Recognize this??

    Hello everyone,

This was in a lot of items that I received...just not exactly sure what it is! Is it wartime or post war?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Chrys

Hi, it looks like some kind of "lufthansa" pin - made after the war

Thank you for the reply! It is one of those weird things...probably won't ever know for sure.

      Thanks again!

It does not have anyhting to do with Lufthansa, not before, nor after the war, that's for sure!
In first instance I thought about Messerschmitt, but the bird is not a parrot.

Will ask a friend who owns the possible largest air-company collection in the world with tenthousands of items. If getting a result I will let you all know!

                  Hey Carsten,

That is pretty cool...something that I was not aware of. I love the photo on the train...great shot!

I really don't see how these are connected though. The emblem is so different...maybe I just don't see it.

I had assumed that it was from after 1945...it was just in a large lot that came in. I wanted to make 100% sure before casting it off. It was with a bunch of WHW pins...so I assumed it was just some random stickpin.

I appreciate your info...I learned something today!

                  Cheers,
                  Chrys

It's from the MITROPA-company, which was connected to the Deutsche Reichsbahn and took care for the restaurant and sleeping facilities on board of trains (long distances)! Was in business before WWII (I thought stopped about early war) and came back again after WWII.

MITROPA = Mitteleuropäische Schlafwagen- und Speiswagen Aktiengesellschaft, founded November 24, 1916 with its headquarters at Munich. A catering company. An independent company, which not at all was a part from de Deutsche Reichsbahn, but worked together with it.
It was the Rheingold-express that did not ride anymore since late August 1939 for reasons of Kriegsmobilisierung. If the Mitropa was still in business during the war I do not know, but was quite active after the war.

In post 5 I referred to a friend I would ask about the pin that started the thread and from which it was said or thought to be Lufthansa. The answer to this is not solved. Here is the answer from my friend with the thousands of air-company badges:

Referring your photo about the possible Lufthansa-pin, let me tell you, that I never saw this stylish emblem. I have had in my collection so many other pins, but none of them were like the one shown in the picture you sent me. Perhaps it is so old, as you mentioned (before 1945). Otherwise if it were after 1955, it sounds a little bit phantasy?

Chrys: I will keep on looking, but if my friend does not know, who then will know! The shown item does NOT have anything to do with the "Deutsche Lufthansa" or any of her subsidiary companies, as "Hansa Flugdienst", "Deruluft" (in cooperation with Russia), "Syndicato Condor Ltda" (Brasil), "Sociedad Iberia de Aviación" (Spain) or "Eurasia" (China).
