Hi guys,

I need your opinion on this miniature NSDAP Armband. I recently bought this from a german canadian guy,Daren Broers, for US$60 . He said that he got it from a RCAF Pilot from Vancouver called Gordy Watson. It looks interesting as it is a smaller version of the normal armband. I hope any of you guys could shed some light on this matter . Any comments guys???

Just pure speculation on my part: could it be part of a funeral pillow ensemble?

I have seen one of these before but can't remember what purpose it served. It is a cuff band. Could it be something to do with Volksturm as the size and construction is similar to that band?

Hey guys, I just got this info from the Wehrmacht Uniforms and Insignia Forum . http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=65994 . According to Erich, These were worn by civilians later in the war when they were performing some official/semi official duty (Luftschutz type, fire fighting, helping to evacuate areas, etc.) and are sometimes stamped or printed 'Parteibereitschaft' (However mine doesnt have it???). The English translation of 'Parteibereitschaft' is "Party readiness". Also, he says that it is not a rare pattern. Yet, he doesnt know of any site that sells it. So what do you think??? Could it be part of a funeral pillow ensemble??? or is it a cuff band , something to do with Volksturm as the size and construction is similar to that band?? or is this guy right in saying that these were worn by civilians when performing some official/semi official duty?? Definitely a sleeveband for non-uniformed persons. It's not for a funeral pillow, it's not a rare cufftitle. The funeral sashes are much longer and wider. I don't know of any dealer who has one currently, but I don't look for this sort of item--I've been collecting for a long time and seek harder to find pieces. If you go to a decent show, I guarantee that you will find at least several examples, and if you have to pay more than $35-45.00, I'd be surprised. They're always printed, by the way, and never multi piece.

I just remembered an experience when I was about 15 years old--I was at a flea market back east and a dealer had one of these armbands with some other militaria. Someone asked him why it was so small compared to a normal armband, and he told the customer, in all seriousness, that he thought it might be 'Hitler's armband from when he was a baby'. I kid you not!
