Gentlemen,
I have acquired a large, Third Reich Medallion, the exact identification of which eludes me (badges and medals are not my subject - so hopefully someone will come up with answer). I will endeavour to post an image of the piece at the end of this text.
Description: Large circular bronze medallion.
Diameter - 76 mm (3 inches)
Thickness - 10 mm (6/16ths inch)
Weight - 226 gm (8 ozs).
Obverse: Text legend DER KREIS LIPPSTADT (together with a schematic map of the Lippstadt area).
Central Reverse: Swastika motif with oak leaves, and the text "GEWIDMET von dem Landkreis Lippstadt (Dedicated to - or maybe "Bestowed upon" - Landkreis Lippstadt".
Surrounding text being the slogan "Alles fur Deutschland".
Is there anyone out there in WAF-land who can positively identify this; the probable date of issuance; the reason for the existence of this ?
All answers, or suggestions, welcome. Thank you.
