    Howard-
I would suggest geting a copy of the Organization Buck Der NSDAP, Angolia's book on NSDAP & SA insignia or the upcoming book on the political formations that is authored by Jeff Clark and published by Schiffer. I understand publication on that book is a few months off.

      Hello Bob,
Yes, I have a copy of the Organization Buch Der NSDAP, and Angolia's book on NSDAP and SA insignia. However there are no mentions to different pattern's of armbands. Only mention in Angolia's book is to early 1920's examples (1922 examples, page 58), pre-1930 high leaders (page62), and the post 1939 armbands (pages 63-70). If your referring to the different patterns of collar tabs, I agree there are 4 types of collar tabs. I have a 4th pattern listed in the members e-stand section, and several others in my collection.
I'll have to talk to Jeff Clark about this wierd variation armband. BTY Jeff bought some wonderful collar tabs at the Show of Shows! Hope you had a chance to view them! WOW! Thanks again Bob.
I look forward to expanding my knowledge.
      Regards,
      Howard

        Howard-
This form of armband was made to wear with the fourth pattern rank insignia. The armband desiginated position, not rank. Therefore, these formats of armband are considered to be part of the 4th pattern insignia for political leaders.

          Hello Bob,

I'll go along with that since they both arrived on the scene around the same time frame. Don't forget the two different levels of Political armbands, 1). Administration, with oak leaves to top and bottom of band, and 2). Operational and or rank levels, i.e. Kreisleiter, Gauleiter, etc. etc. I'm sure you'll agree.

However if I saw this armband at a show or for sell online, I'd run away. It's better to have an official issue item, than something that has no matches with any examples listed in any reference book.

          Thanks for the conversation,
          Howard
