In the time of Nationalsozalismus began a massive ideological occupation of Saxony leader for state interests. Alfred Rosenberg, director of spiritual and philosophical education of the NSDAP, became the most famous lawyer Widukind, calling him again and again to the ideal types of the "Germanic leader" and fighter for the "purity of the Nordic race" stylized.

From 1950 the Evangelical youth leased the houses of the British military Government, 1956, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover acquired the area from the land of Lower Saxony, Germany. The Evangelical youth operates the "Evangelical Jugendhof Saxony Hain" there since 1950, an education and Conference Centre. Their Web site is true, landmark of the site are thousands "Hinkelsteine"; whose origin is however mentioned with any word. 1976 parts of the plant were destroyed by fire, 1979, the houses could be used again.
The stone-lined trail is accessible in the area of Jugendhofes and a tourist and destination, but also a magnet for neo-Nazis and right-wing extremists, "Neopagan" groups.
